Bismillahi – Rahmani- Rahim in the name of Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful.

Background

All Praise and thanksgiving belong to Allah (SWT), The Lord and Sustainer’s of all the Worlds. We testify to the Sovereignty of Almighty Allah, as The Source of all powers and laws and we also testify to The Prophet hood of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (p.b.o.h.) as The Seal of all Prophets. We propose to promote and propagate this belief – the Islamic faith to people of all walks, as revealed in the Holy Qur’an and in accordance with the Customs and Practises of the Holy Prophet. We resolve to pursue these principles peacefully within ourselves, in harmony with our neighbours and community. To be at peace with all mankind irrespective of their faith, sect, creed or religious belief. As vicegerents of the Almighty on earth we earnestly believe Allah’s guidance is guaranteed through the Holy Prophet Muhammad (p.b.o.h.). “Allahuma Ihidina Siratal Mustaqima”

Uswat is an Islamic organisation, which was established in Newham area in 1992.
Choosing to establish the Centre in this particular city was for many considerations, the most important being the fact that a large community of Muslims resides there. The diver’s Muslim community in Newham Borough consists of people who are originally from Nigeria, Ghana and other West African countries, plus the fact that there are a large number of students doing higher studies at East London University. The number of the local Muslims is estimated at five thousand plus the students whose numbers vary from time to time.

The Centre also plays a humble role in introducing the non-Muslim population of Britain to the religion of Islam.
Uswat Welfare Trust is a registered charity with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, Registration No.1135995, offering its services to the community at large and, al-hamdulillaah, has improved its performance over the years.
Uswat secured a permanent building in September 2014, in which most of the funds was raised through public donation and weekly contributions.
